You are welcome to bring whatever supplies you have the first day of class before purchasing.

9x12" Cold Press 140lb Watercolor Pad like this Canson pad and/or this 100% cotton Arches Pad . Buy what you can afford. The Canson is great for practice and learning; The Arches is artist grade, paint will behave differently.

Brushes: synthetic assortment of flats and rounds (I really like this set from Amazon)

2" Brush from Home Depot or Ace Hardware (costs about $2) or this set from Michael’s

Paint: Alizarin Crimson, Cadmium Red Light, Cadmium Yellow Light OR Lemon Yellow, Cadmium Yellow Medium, Ultramarine Blue, Phthalo Blue (There are two grades of paint: Student (where prices are uniform and less expensive) and Artist (pricier, better pigment content) Student grade is fine to start: preferably Cotman or I’ve found Dick Blick brand to work well.

Palette (larger is better) I use a 20 well white plastic palette

2 Water containers at least 8 ounce size

Paper towel, Pencil, Eraser

For both watercolor and acrylic painters

Watercolor Paints:
Alizarin Crimson or Winsor Red, Cadmium Red Light, Lemon Yellow, Cadmium Yellow Pale, Ultramarine Blue, Phthalo Blue (bring what you have as well)

Acrylic Paints:
Quinacradone Magenta OR Alizarin Crimson, Cadmium Red Light, Cadmium Yellow Light, Cadmium Yellow Medium, Ultramarine Blue, Phthalo Blue, Black, White (bring what you have as well)

A couple of flat brushes: 1/2” works well

Palette (larger is better) I use a disposable paper palette pad for acrylics and a plastic palette with 20 wells for watercolor. You will be doing a LOT of mixing so you need room.

Lots of paper! A 9x12 pad of watercolor paper has about 30 sheets. Did I mention you will be doing a lot of mixing?

2 Water containers at least 8 ounce size
